No more Tweedledee

The ridiculous two-headed race against Rep. F. Jim Sensenbrenner is over.

One of the two college professors running in tandem for the seat -- the Democrat, Jeff Walz -- has dropped out of the race, leaving Sensenbrenner with only a quixotic Republican primary challenger.

The idea of two friends, one Dem and one Repub, running jointly was good for some free publicity, but didn't accomplish much else.

Maybe, now, the Democrats will field a real challenger.

Greg Borowski of the Journal Sentinel has more.

I wrote to both Tweedle Dee and Dum shortly after their announcement they were challenging Sensenbrenner, noting that I write a regular column for the Ozaukee News-Graphic and an on-line Opinion column on gmtoday.com. I assured them of my support on the importsnt grounds that we badly need contested elections for political office in Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties. I asked them for information about their positions on specific very critical issues. And neither of them sent even a canned or cursory reply.

You may be interested in my "Hearts and Minds" blog which archives my newspaper columns. There is an entire category of articles focused on Congressman F.J. Sensenbrenner. Look under "S" in the categories.
